LEATHER

My bags are made from the finest quality leather sourced from a few selected European tanneries and purchased through local retailers. The leathers processed there come from the meat industry, ensuring a production process that’s as sustainable as possible.
As long as livestock exists, the most ethical form of leather production is when hides—otherwise discarded or incinerated as by-products—are repurposed into durable, high-quality material for fashion and accessories. These companies also take environmental protection seriously, using natural dyes and finishes to minimize their ecological footprint.

Leather is a natural material, and its surface is rarely flawless. Small grain variations, subtle color differences, or tiny marks are all part of its authentic charm. During the animal’s life, the skin might have been scratched, bitten, branded, or folded differently across body parts—these can all appear on the leather surface. That’s what makes it feel alive.
Of course, I carefully select and cut around these areas whenever possible—but sometimes a natural mark becomes part of the bag’s story. Please keep this in mind when choosing your ESLO bag. Structurally, the leather remains perfectly strong and beautiful. Just like in life, not everything needs to be flawless—and I truly believe this is part of sustainable, slow fashion. After all, if we cut away every “imperfection,” we’d end up throwing away so much valuable material.

Why does leather need care?

Leather represents real value and quality. Its durability and resilience are not something to be taken for granted. To maintain its original beauty, it needs regular care and attention.
Think of it like your own skin: we cleanse, hydrate, and protect it from dryness, harsh winds, sunlight, and scratches. Animal leather, even after processing, behaves similarly—it “breathes,” can dry out, and absorbs moisture.

This natural material rewards you for the care you give it; the secret to its longevity lies in proper maintenance and storage.

When leather starts to dry, the ultimate remedy is beeswax—a deeply nourishing, hydrating miracle that brings it back to life. It’s worth keeping a small tin of it at home; you can find it in most major shoe stores.

If your structured bag is resting for a while, stuff it with soft cotton fabrics (like an old T-shirt) to help it keep its shape. Hang it up, or place it in a box or dust bag. Never stack heavy items on top, and keep it away from sharp objects that might scratch the surface.

WOOD

The signature of my bags lies in their solid wood handles and decorative elements—each uniquely designed and handcrafted.
Not a single tree is cut down for these creations.

We use wood from my father’s workshop—pieces saved from larger carpentry projects, rescued from lumberyards, or collected from small leftover logs.

This sometimes limits the design process, as we don’t cut shapes from pressed or glued panels; instead, each wooden part is designed to suit the specific piece of wood we have.

Wood carries life within it—the subtle patterns of nature. Beautiful, unrepeatable grain, shades, and traces of time or insects—all tell a story, making every piece truly one of a kind.

At the moment, we mostly work with walnut, sometimes plum, teak, or black walnut—and Japanese acacia is also drying for future designs.

Every ESLO designer bag’s wood part is treated with a completely natural, 100% pure oil blend that hardens the structure from within and protects it from environmental effects. It’s a perfect combination of tung oil and orange oil—the finest, most natural treatment wood could wish for.
This oil gives the surface a silky matte finish and beautifully deepens the grain.

It’s worth applying a thin layer of oil once every year or two. I’m already working on making the exact oil I use available in small tins soon.

Since we work with solid wood, no two cuts or patterns are ever identical. The color and grain of the wood on your bag may vary slightly—making it uniquely yours.

LINEN, HEMP & JUTE

The gentle touch of nature—these natural fibers embody softness, sustainability, and timeless beauty. There’s something special about bringing nature’s gifts into our daily lives, our clothing, and our homes.
My brand was born from the harmony of LINEN – JUTE – WOOD.

Linen

Linen offers countless advantages, but perhaps the most important is that it’s entirely natural. It requires less water and fewer chemicals to grow than other textile plants like cotton, making it a more environmentally friendly choice. And being fully biodegradable, it’s a material that truly returns to nature.
Its fibers are strong and durable, making linen long-lasting and resistant to wear and tear. It breathes beautifully and absorbs moisture exceptionally well.

Hemp

The hemp plant’s stalk has two layers—the outer one is fibrous, the inner one woody. Only the outer fibers are used for textiles; the inner woody part often becomes fuel, construction material, or animal bedding.
After separating the fibers, they are spun into rope or yarn. Hemp rope was once the sailor’s favorite because of its incredible strength—and that same resilience makes it a wonderful material for clothing and accessories. It often outperforms cotton and synthetics in durability and texture, making it perfect for bags too.

Jute

Jute originates from South Asia, mainly India and Bangladesh—together they produce about 95% of the world’s jute supply.
Its warm, humid climate is ideal for cultivation, which requires no chemical treatments, minimizing environmental impact. The plant’s inner stalk yields long, coarse fibers that are woven into fabric—strong yet elegant, easy to dye, and highly versatile. Jute fabric is used everywhere: from packaging and textiles to architecture and crafts. Its natural look and strength make it a favorite in the world of handmade design.

Leather, wood, linen, jute, hemp… all gifts of nature. Let’s cherish them—and surround ourselves with as much nature as we can.

Each of my bags is a unique piece, crafted with care and dedication.
I hope you’ll love yours deeply and take good care of it.
An ESLO designer bag with its handmade wooden details will be your loyal companion—for life. 🌿
